Antique Seltzer Bottle
In 1852, Georg Kreuzberg, A German merchant, discovered a mineral well in Ahrweiler. He bottle the water in earthenware bottle from Baumbach, RheinPrussia. This bottle is from his mineral well.
Salt Glazed stoneware became the dominant houseware of the United States of America from 1780 to 1890. The salt glaze is formed by throwing salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. Sodium from the salt reacts with silica in the clay body to form a glassy coating of sodium silicate, hence salt glazed.
